Father
of the Bride Speech
Whilst often perceived as the easiest of the speeches, the task facing the Father of the Bride still
induces great apprehension. The Father of the Bride is expected to combine warmth and wit into one short address, and must publicly
display his deep held affection for his daughter.
It is not surprising, therefore, that few men feel naturally comfortable in the role. Although usually the eldest
of the wedding speakers, it is often this perceived seniority which increases the apprehension; indeed, many Fathers feel that a polished display is automatically expected.
Fortunately, the guests understand that it is an emotional day for the Bride’s Father.
Nevertheless, every Father wants to do his daughter proud, and there can be no greater compliment than
expressing his feelings in an eloquent and well-presented manner.
To many Fathers, this may seem easier said than done. The secret, however, is surprisingly simple. With a little help and plenty of preparation, you can positively look forward to the task, safe in the knowledge that nothing can knock you out of your
stride!
